Greg McConnell
President & CEO
Greg is our principal consultant and advocate.
Greg is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and a consultant and advocate who has represented business interests before state and local governments for over thirty years.
Greg is the President and CEO of the Jobs and Housing Coalition and serves as JHC’s legislative and public policy advocate. JHC members are 50 of the top executives of Oakland's major corporations.
Greg serves as Executive Director of the Oakland Jobs PAC which is Oakland's leading political action committee, and the Oakland Safe Streets Committee which is committed to increasing public safety in Oakland.
In 2007, Oakland City Council President Ignacio De La Fuente appointed Greg to Oakland's Blue Ribbon Commission on Housing Affordability as a representative of Oakland's homebuilding industry.
In 1995, Greg led the charge to pass the landmark Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act which changed restrictive rent control in California and advanced the property rights of landlords and residential developers.
Greg was the chief executor of residential rent control programs in Washington, DC and Berkeley, California from 1981 to 1987. He left the public sector and opened The McConnell Group to consult with property owners on rent control, the entitlement process, condominium conversions, and other land use issues. Today, Greg devotes the majority of his time to legislative advocacy for JHC and individual clients.
Greg's views and activities have been reported in many of the nation's major news outlets and he is a frequent guest on radio and television talk shows.
JR McConnell
Executive Vice President
JR is the Executive Vice President and consultant for The McConnell Group. He works with residential real estate investors on rent control, condo conversions, entitlements and other land use issues in the Bay Area. He holds a business degree from California State University East Bay.
Mimi Rohr
Vice President
Mimi is the Vice President at The McConnell Group in charge of communications and outreach. She has had a 25 year career as a journalist covering local and international issues. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from The George Washington University and a Master’s Degree in middle eastern studies from the American University in Cairo.
