Greg McConnell
President and CEO
Greg McConnell is a seasoned consultant and advocate with over 30 years of experience representing business interests before state and local governments. A member of the District of Columbia Bar, he has built a career advancing policies that encourage business growth, residential and commercial development, and job creation. As the founder and former President and CEO of the Jobs and Housing Coalition (JHC), he successfully led advocacy efforts on behalf of major corporations in Oakland, California, for over 20 years. In 1995, Greg spearheaded the passage of the Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act, a landmark law that reformed restrictive rent control policies and strengthened property rights for California landlords and developers.
He has also directed rent control programs in Washington, DC, and Berkeley, CA. Greg transitioned from government service to the private sector, where he has provided strategic business consulting and government relations services to a diverse range of businesses. He also supports nonprofits and offers pro bono consulting to organizations that collaborate with business interests to create opportunities for employment and job training. Greg’s insights on economic development and building successful communities have been featured in major news outlets and broadcast media.
